and technological prowess ~

Yahoo Japan Corporation (hereinafter, "Yahoo! JAPAN") is opening its base in Silicon Valley with the purpose of strengthening its technology.
In this Silicon Valley base, Yahoo! JAPAN aims to research and develop cutting-edge technologies outside Japan in specialized fields, and to reinforce the promotion of advanced developments in Yahoo! JAPAN. Three members from Yahoo! JAPAN’s Data & Science Solutions Group will be assigned to this base.

Yahoo! JAPAN is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and throughout these years, it has constantly led the Internet industry in Japan.
In recent years, Internet is used mainly through mobile devices such as smartphones instead of through PCs. As is symbolized in “e-commerce” and “IoT”, the fields in which Internet is involved in our daily lives is increasingly expanding. Thus, we are seeing constant changes in terms of how Internet is used. In such situation, in order to respond to the most advanced fields and to keep on being innovative, it is vital to possess a strong technological foundation in line with future times and technological prowess. Yahoo! JAPAN has decided to strengthen its technological capabilities in the Silicon Valley base acknowledging the importance of “technology” and “recruiting of talented personnel” for its perpetual growth and further development.

By establishing a base in Silicon Valley where leading technologies in the world and cutting-edge R&D gather, Yahoo! JAPAN expects to acquire fresh information promptly and to actively promote collaborations with various local companies. In addition, Yahoo! JAPAN has high hopes that the effect of these measures will not only be limited to raising both the ability and motivation of the engineers that constitute a large portion of the total employees, but will also lead to the hiring of talented personnel both in and out of Japan.

Moving forward, Yahoo! JAPAN will consider increasing the number of technology-related staff working in the Silicon Valley base and conducting recruiting activities outside of Japan.
